Spotted Horse Vineyards began in 2004 with 500 grapevine cuttings.In 2006, we added 600 grapevine plants and 250 cuttings. We currently have nearly three acres of grapevines made up of six varieties: Edelweiss, LaCrosse, Concord, Catawba, Niagra, and St. Pepin. The varieties were selected carefully to withstand our Midwest winters.
Renovation of the barn into a tasting room began in the summer of 2007 and is still under progress. When it is complete, you will be able to sample our wines and purchase your favorites. We currently have several unique varieties of wine, while we wait for our grapevines to mature. They are Dandelion, Elderberry, and Rhubarb. Eventually the tasting room will be available for wedding receptions and private parties
Spotted Horse Vineyards is located in Arcadia, Iowa, on the Missouri-Mississippi Divide. We are approximately two hours from Omaha, Sioux City, or Des Moines. Take Highway 30 to the Arcadia exit. Go two miles north, then turn east at 170th Street and drive 1/8 mile.
